I came back from a short trip to Zagreb a week ago and have been bearing this story (or rather a myriad of stories) with me. Stories about encounters, courage, inspiration, or in one word: about PEOPLE. Thousands of images cross my mind – images of smiles, conversations, interactions – they all make me wonder how and why on earth do we sometimes forget how human we are?!?
It will never cease to amaze me how easy and natural it can be for people to connect on a human level (across cultures, beyond languages, no matter the background). It can be so obvious and yet, in the course of our busyness there is a tendency to forget it.
We are (and always have been) social creatures. We all, regardless of our occupation and different social skills, feel the need to share, to listen and to be heard, to inspire and to get inspired. This is what my trip to Zagreb reminded me vividly of.
So, my Zagreb experience stood for serendipitous encounters with people – people who inspire and get inspired, who have the courage to follow their dreams and show their emotions, people who make others laugh and cry for joy.
Having said that, when was your last Zagreb-like experience?
